BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO TRAVEL APPS

In the guide below are ten of the best travel apps every savvy traveler should know about.

FLIGHTS

Hopper

Everyone knows the prices of flights can fluctuate. This is where the hopper comes into play. The hopper app can predict the best time to find the cheapest fares, reducing flights by up to 40%. The app offers a price monitoring feature so you can also receive alerts on price drops. Through Hopper, you can compare the prices on up to 250 airlines.

Skiplagged

Skiplagged is an airfare search engine for cheap flights, showing hidden city ticketing trips. The best hidden city booking engine. Skiplagging is a legit way to reduce the cost of certain flights, but most major airlines, including American, Delta Southwest and United don’t allow it.

Skyscanner

Book and compare the cheapest flights from all major airlines and online travel agents to find the best plane tickets to your desired destination.

Flightaware

If you have tight connections to make or are offering rides to family and friends from the airport this app can be extremely helpful. The app tracks flights in real time so you can see where the aircraft is at any given moment. Not only does this app provide information on arrivals and departures, but you can also view the effect of the weather in the given location too.

HOTELS

Expedia

If you’re looking for a steeply discounted hotel I’d recommend the expedia app. This comes with exclusive deals you can’t always find on other booking sites, including up to 40% off the room. The app only rewards rate of $2 points per dollar can also be useful if you’re often looking for hotel bargains. When booking in-app you have the option of applying this rewards with a click of the button as well as gaining elite status.

Marriott Bonvoy

The Marriott Bonvoy app is amazingly straightforward and one of the most user-friendly hotel apps for travelers. If you’ve created a Marriott Bonvoy account, all of your saved information, including payment, is available to expedite the booking process. In the app you can modify reservations, check-in, request services and use a mobile key at the locations it is offered. It’s also easy to accumulate points and book accordingly within the app.

Resortpass

Resortpass is a great option for individuals looking for a daypass to a hotel, resort or spa. It’s also a fun way to experience new properties without committing to hotel or an elite membership. Browse luxury hotels, go from couch to cabana in a matter of moments.

DINING

Resy

Discover restaurants to love in your city and various other cities you adore too. Get the latest restaurant intel and explore curated guides to find the right dining spot for your needs. The search by city feature makes this app very user-friendly and a breeze for booking dining reservations. One of my favorite perks with Resy is the global dining access program. This program allows exclusive reservations and special dining experiences in conjunction with eligible American Express cards on your resy profile.

Opentable

Make online reservations, read restaurant reviews from diners and earn points towards free meals. The one stop shop for everything food related. An easy way to discover new restaurants with personalized recommendations.

Sevenrooms

SevenRooms is a marketing and operations platform that helps hospitality operators create exceptional experiences that drive revenue and repeat business. Trusted by thousands of hospitality operators around the world, SevenRooms powers tens of millions of guest experiences each month across both on- and off-premises. This is a great option for those in the industry to explore.
