THE PORTLAND HARBOR HOTEL
The Portland Harbor Hotel is set amidst the hustle-and-bustle of downtown making it a great location for travelers. After handing our keys to the valet and entering a spacious lobby area one floor up from the parking garage, we were warmly greeted by the concierge. A minor clerical error that nearly put us in the wrong room was quickly forgotten when we entered our modern nautical-themed suite overlooking the outdoor terrace. The room was designed with sleek wood floors, coastal ornamentation, quality bedding and local artwork.
Each floor hosts a complimentary coffee and snack bar near the elevator with a selection of granola bars, water bottles, and coffee to-go. The hotel’s on-site restaurant, the Harbor Bistro & Terrace, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service with outdoor and indoor seating available. The menu features coastal cuisine made with ingredients sourced from local farmers and fishermen. Overall, the Portland Harbor Hotel feels like the quintessential New England hotel in the center of a vibrant downtown.
The hotel is in walking distance of the Old Port and its bevy of restaurants, bars & breweries, and shopping locations, a treat for beer lovers and foodies alike. Portland offers attractions to meet any interest including live sports and music, brewery tasting rooms, outdoor and sea excursions, shopping, dining, and historical and walking tours. I would recommend checking out Shipyard Brewing, Oxbow Brewing, Duckfat, The Holy Donut, and Eventide Oyster Co. as fantastic food and drink options near the hotel.
Travel Tip
The Portland Harbor Hotel often partners with Amex Platinum Travel & Chase Sapphire Benefits. Most of the time I would recommend using these programs for additional benefits if they are available to you. In this particular case because of the savings I would recommend booking directly through the hotel or through Expedia or Triple A. There are not as many additional amenities so it’s best you opt to save on finances where possible with this particular location.
Song Suggestion for Portland Harbor Hotel is Drive by The Well Pennies. This song gives off easy going road trip vibes while still staying true to New England summer fun.
